Sale of HSBC Wealth and Personal Banking in Mauritius to Absa Bank Mauritius

We're selling some of our business in Mauritius

We have agreed to sell our domestic Wealth and Personal Banking, and Business Banking operations in Mauritius to Absa Bank (Mauritius) Limited, also known as Absa Mauritius.

We thank you for your understanding and patience since this announcement.

We've sent letters to our customers to tell them what will happen to the products they hold with us. These products include accounts, deposits, loans and credit cards, which will be transferred to Absa Mauritius.

 

Our last business day will be Friday 5 July 2024, when all banking services will stop at 5pm local time.

The following table shows the products and services that have paused on 10 June 2024 and will be paused on 1 July 2024.

  • New cheque book orders
  • New account openings
  • Direct debit and standing order setups
  • New ATM card applications

We'll stop:

  • ATM card replacement
  • Purchase/Sale of foreign currency notes
  • Account reactivation
 
Loans and overdrafts

We'll stop:

  • New loan applications
  • Applications for loan rescheduling and moratorium
  • We'll not take requests for disbursements
HSBC Online Banking (Personal Internet Banking)
  • We'll stop new registrations for online banking
  • You won't be able to reactivate your online banking access

With effect from 10 June 2024, the following services are no longer available:

  • Group encashment facilities for both HSBC Mauritius and other HSBC group customers
  • International account opening referrals
  • Account opening for new customers

All other banking services will remain available until our last business day.

Important note

    HSBC will continue to support large and mid-market domestic corporates and international subsidiaries of corporates headquartered outside of Mauritius, with a focus on cross-border trade and international business. markets and securities services, multi-currency corporate lending, foreign exchange, trade finance, global custody and sustainable finance will continue to be offered to clients.
